MOSCOW, December 31 (Sputnik) – The law introduces fines for individuals ranging from 20,000 to 50,000 rubles (from $350 to $850), whereas companies are obliged to pay fines of 100,000 to 300,000 rubles (from $1,700 to $5,000) with or without the confiscation of any belongings.

Russia's health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor is responsible for compiling reports on the cases.

Earlier this year, Russia banned the import of products with Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO), except those used for research, and currently does not permit the cultivation of GMO crops.
