MOSCOW, February 6 (RIA Novosti) – A baby gorilla was born at Moscow Zoo on Monday, the zoo said on its website on Wednesday.
"The birth of a baby gorilla in captivity is a great achievement for the zoo and a significant contribution to the European program of conservation and breeding of rare and endangered species," the zoo said adding visitors can already see the newborn in the ape section.
“The mom and baby are doing well, the atmosphere in the [gorilla] group is calm," the zoo said.
The group consists of an adult male, three females, and a female baby. The newborn gorilla is only the second one born at the zoo.
