Russian tycoon Suleiman Kerimov will spend $100 million on the construction of an advanced comprehensive school west of Moscow, near the high-tech hub Skolkovo, a Russian business daily said on Friday.
Vedomosti said that Kerimov was planning to build his ambitious school "for educating forward-minded children from different social groups" near his own house in Zarechye, an exclusive residential area.
"Suleiman likes ambitious projects, he likes new electronic gadgets, he is good at information technology, it's no wonder he decided to invest in the creation of a brand new school," Vedomosti cited an anonymous friend of the tycoon as saying.
Kremlin officials have hailed Kerimov's project, saying Skolkovo's 25,000 future specialists will need more than one school for their children. The project is backed by Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov.
The school will include a modern sports complex with a swimming pool, a skating-rink, a giant dance floor, as well as a residential area for gifted children from the provinces.
According to Vedomosti, the school library will have all its textbooks downloaded in digital format to let pupils and teachers use them on iPads.
Another source close to the tycoon told Vedomosti that Kerimov wanted his school to have the best of everything, including teachers.
