GROZNY, May 7 (RIA Novosti) - Three policemen were killed in a clash with a group of militants in Chechnya's Vedeno district, and another was mortally wounded in the Shali district, a spokesman for local law enforcers said Monday.
Chechen and Russian police officers discovered Sunday a group of militants in a village in the Vedeno district and engaged them. Three policemen were killed and four wounded as a result.
"Three militants were killed in the fight, including two residents of the Shali district," the source said. "The third body is being identified."
Another policeman died in Chechnya's Shali district, about 12 miles southeast of Grozny, where a special operation was conducted Sunday. An armed militant unleashed an attack on the police, but managed to escape after mortally wounding a patrol commander. He is wanted for the murder now.
