Theresa May: Can She Overpower Frau Merkel?

Weeks after the stormy Brexit referendum, Britain passed through a change of leadership with the ascent of tough-talking Theresa May, described as a “bloody difficult woman” and “not a humorist”, who pledged to come out on top in the country’s bitter divorce with the EU.

Theresa May’s premiership came as a surprise to the many people who hadn’t expected her to ever get this far, but the unexpected dropping out of her main rival earlier in the week guaranteed that she’d automatically get the spot. Now her biggest battle and the most important one in what some could argue is Britain’s entire post-war history is about to be fought, as May gears up to meet Merkel and negotiate the end of the UK’s decades-long membership in the EU.
