Israel Wants US, Not Russia, to Control Deescalation Zones in Syria - Reports
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Israel is not going to interfere in the situation in Syria, but will not allow the strengthening of Iran in the south of the country, Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Lieberman said in an interview with Russia's Kommersant newspaper posted on its website on Wednesday.

"We do not interfere in the internal affairs of Syria or anyone else. We are a self-sufficient state with a very powerful infrastructure. We are doing well, we are not going to touch anyone and we do not lay claims to any territory," Lieberman said.

The Israeli minister, however, expressed concern over Iran's growing presence in southern Syria as a potential threat to Israel.

"Iran today turns all of Syria, including the south, into a bridgehead against Israel, and we are not ready to admit it, we are not ready to put up with it. So we are trying to ensure that there is no even a sight of them [Iranians] there, this is one of the main conditions on which we insist," Lieberman stressed.
