Dozen of G20 FMs Reach ‘Broad Consensus’ on Climate, Economy – Beijing

A dozen of G20 foreign ministers reached some degree of consensus on issues relating to climate change and sustained economic development, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said Sunday.

BEIJING (Sputnik) — Foreign ministers from China, Russia, Mexico, South Africa, Indonesia, Singapore, and South Korea, among others, attended an unofficial lunch meeting in the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou.

"Foreign ministers who turned out for the lunch exchanged opinions on issues related to terrorism, refugees, global climate change, sustained development, important regional and other issues, and reached a broad consensus," Chinese Foreign Ministry’s Hua Chunying said.

She quoted Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi as saying at the luncheon that joining efforts was the only way of tackling the chaos faced by the international community.

Leaders of the world’s 20 largest economies gathered in Hangzhou on Sunday for a two-day G20 summit that focuses on how to build an innovative, invigorated, interconnected and inclusive world economy.
