Palestine Announces Plan to Sue Britain for the Creation of Israel
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Foreign ministers from nearly 30 countries will discuss the Israeli-Palestinian issue on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York in September and announce the date of the French-led conference to find a peace settlement to the conflict, Palestinian Ambassador to Russia Abdel Hafiz Nofal told Sputnik.

“The meeting in New York will be at the level of foreign ministers where nearly 30 of them are likely to discuss the Israeli-Palestinian peace process on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly as part of the French initiative,” Nofal said, adding that the participating states have already initiated preparatory work in subcommittees.

The Palestinian ambassador added that during the meeting in New York, the sides would announce the final date of the French-led international conference on the peaceful settlement of the Israel-Palestine conflict, which may take place as early as October if the participants reach a consensus.

“The date of the final conference on the Israeli-Palestinian peace process initiated by France will be announced at the meeting in New York. By the end of meeting, if all parties agree, France may announce that the final conference is likely to convene during the first week of October or, if there are any complications, in December,” Nofal said.

In late January, then-French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius proposed an initiative for an international conference to help resume the stalled Israeli-Palestinian talks. He stressed that Paris would be ready to recognize Palestinian statehood if the talks yielded no results. Israel has rejected the French plan.

On June 3, Paris hosted the first meeting of the world power on Israeli-Palestinian peace process. No representatives of either Israel or Palestine were present at the event.

The 71st Regular Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 71) will begin at UN Headquarters on September 13, 2016.
