Lavrov, Kerry Discuss Syria Conflict Focusing on Aleppo

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US State Secretary John Kerry discussed the situation in Syria by phone with a focus on the humanitarian situation in Aleppo, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – It added that the diplomats deliberated coordinating the fight against terrorist groups in Syria to guarantee the cessation of hostilities in Syria.

“Discussion of the situation in Syria continued with a focus on the situation in Aleppo, where government forces are conducting a large-scale humanitarian operation with Russian support,” the ministry said.

The phone conversation made at the United States' request was held based on agreements reached during Kerry’s visit to Moscow on July 15-16.
