Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Friday that outlooks for renewing bilateral relations between Moscow and Ankara depend on their cooperation across a wide scope of issues.

DVORIKI (Russia) (Sputnik) — Lavrov mentioned how important it was to cooperate:

"Restoring the trust to its former state is too abstract a category. Everything will hinge on our approach to cooperation and contacts… how we are going to trade with each other… build things together, implement joint investment projects and, largely, on how we will cooperate on the Syria peace process," Lavrov said at a youth forum held near Russia's city of Vladimir.

Erdogan's Apology 'Indicates Depth of Turkey's Isolation' on Global Stage
On June 27, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a letter addressed to Putin apologized for the downing of a Russian Su-24 attack aircraft by a Turkish jet in Syria and extended his condolences to the family of the pilot killed in the incident.

By doing so Ankara fulfilled one of the conditions put forward by Moscow following the incident that paralyzed the long-term partnership between the two countries. The letter also said legal proceedings were underway against the Turkish citizen allegedly involved in the Russian pilot’s death – another condition named by Russia in order to restore the severed ties.
