Egypt Officially Nominates Ex-Minister for Position of UNESCO Chief

Egypt has officially nominated former Minister of Family and Population Moushira Khattab for position of the Director-General of the United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), media reported Tuesday.

CAIRO (Sputnik) — According to the Al Arabiya broadcaster, Egyptian Prime Minister Sherif Ismail made corresponding statement at the nomination ceremony that took place in the country's National Museum.

The media noted that Khattab served as Egypt’s ambassador to South Africa, Czech Republic, Slovakia.

The election for the position of the UNESCO Director-General to take place in 2017. Current head of the organization Irina Bokova is a candidate for a post of the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
