MOSCOW (Sputnik) – German lawmakers also rejected two more initiatives of the Left Party concerning withdrawing German troops from the Turkish Incirlik military base and giving up the idea of stationing German troops in Lithuania, according to the Bundestag website.

The resolution on the European collective security system, seen by Sputnik, was drafted in June. The document called on Germany to "choose the course in foreign policy aimed at dissolution of NATO and replacing it with a system of mutual collective security in Europe that will include the Russian Federation."

The Left Party tried to urge Berlin to convince other NATO member states at the bloc’s July summit in Warsaw to abolish missile defense in Europe. It also called on Germany to oppose Montenegro joining NATO, make sure that Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia are never accepted as members of the Alliance.

The document also denounced NATO’s practice of military interventionism and urges to stop threatening Russia militarily, which is "not only politically required but also urgent."

Since 2014, the alliance has been building up its military presence in Europe, especially in Eastern European countries neighboring Russia, using Moscow’s alleged interference in the Ukrainian conflict as a pretext.
