Congress Party spokesperson Anand Sharma told media that, “We do not know why India showed its desperation and allowed the country to be equated with Pakistan on the issue of NSG membership.”
Anand Sharma further added that, “It’s high time that Modi should realize that diplomacy needs gravity, depth and seriousness. Now India is in an embarrassing situation.”

The NSG Plenary meeting in Seoul ended today without any decision on India’s membership bid as several countries led by China opposed the admission of non-NPT members.
India has done intense lobbying for its NSG membership bid as the Indian Prime Minister himself met several heads of states including Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Tashkent. The Indian Foreign Secretary was in Seoul for last minute diplomatic parleys.
