MOSCOW (Sputnik) — His comments come as the United Kingdom has voted on its EU membership. Earlier in the day, it was announced that most people supported leaving the bloc.
"Certainly, the referendum can be deeply analyzed only after its results are clarified. But the fact that those for and against EU membership in one of the biggest and most important bloc's state are neck and neck… means that the European integration project, despite obvious achievements, has failed to achieve its main goal — to become clear and comfortable for the general public," Kosachev told RIA Novosti.
According to Kosachev, the European Union is unable to react to modern challenges in due time amid a high level of bureaucracy, in particular to deal with the migration crisis or terrorism.
