MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Between 2007 and 2014, Tusk headed the Polish government as the leader of the liberal-conservative Civic Platform, which is now the main opposition party.
He has been president of the European Council since 2014.
"All signs in the heavens and on the earth show that [Tusk] will stay, his term in office will be extended for 2.5 years. I believe that it is very important for Poland and for him personally… Tusk will return in 2019, in four years. I think that his candidacy [for presidency] is natural, he will consider it but the Poles will also consider if they can vote for him," Schetyna said as quoted by Radio Zet.
