MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Sunday, Alloush announced his resignation as HNC’s chief representative over the failure of the peace talks in Geneva to bring a political settlement in Syria.
"We see this [resignation] only in positive light because people were taking absolutely nonconstructive approach and, it seems, were not going to negotiate anything good. It would be better to keep people with such extremist approaches far away from the process of negotiations," Bogdanov told reporters.
He added that Russia offered Ahrar ash-Sham and Jaysh al-Islam, in which Alloush participates, to be included in the UN Security Council terrorist organization's list but the proposal was rejected.
