BEIJING (Sputnik) — China opposes discussions of questions unrelated to the global economy during the upcoming G20 summit in Hangzhou, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Thursday.
"G20 is an important platform for the international economic cooperation. The main theme of discussions is the growth of the world economy. The discussion of this key issue will continue at the summit in Hangzhou. If some countries express interest in discussing issues totally unrelated to the global economy that could create a conflict, they will not get much support from the G20 members," Wang told journalists.
The minister added that "certain political questions related to the economic stability may be discussed."
The upcoming summit of the leaders of the world's 20 major economies is scheduled to take place in the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou on September 4-5.
