YEREVAN (Sputnik) – Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and US Vice President Joe Biden discussed on Friday the settlement of the conflict in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region, Sargsyan’s press service said in a statement.
"The two sides stressed the importance of full and efficient implementation of the agreements reached in Vienna under the mediation of the foreign ministers of the OSCE Minsk Group on the Karabakh settlement," the presidential press service said.
Sargsyan and Biden reportedly agreed that the settlement of the conflict is only possible through peaceful means, in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group mediation efforts.
On Monday, Sargsyan and his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev met in Vienna to discuss the conflict in the mountainous region. The meeting was also attended by the foreign ministers of the United States, Russia and France as co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, which has been mediating the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement since 1992.
