France, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, the HNC, the Arab League, the European Union, the United Nations are among the members of the group.
"The High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini will participate at the meeting of Friends of Syria on ministerial level in Paris, also in presence of the Syrian opposition representative, Riyad Hijab. The meeting will aim at supporting the Geneva process and preparing for the next round of intra-Syrian talks in order for parties in conflict to reach an agreement for a political transition in Syria," the statement read.
Last week, HNC head Riyad Hijab called for an emergency meeting of the Friends of Syria Group in Paris in order to discuss ways to solve the crisis in the Middle Eastern country.
The latest round of Geneva proximity talks between the Syrian government and opposition were deadlocked last month after most of the HNC delegates left the meeting over violations of the ceasefire in Syria.
