BOCHAROV RUCHEY (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, Qatar’s foreign minister confirmed that he had brought a verbal message on the situation in Syria from the Arab monarchy’s emir to Putin.
The two leaders met in Russia's southern city of Sochi, where they discussed a wide range of issues, including developments in the Middle East, the Israeli-Palestinian issue, as well bilateral matters.
"Today, the president of Russia, in response to a message from His Highness the Emir [of Qatar], reiterated our focus on the development of cooperation, as well as all other areas, including political dialogue, the economy and humanitarian ties," Lavrov said following the meeting between Putin and top Qatari diplomat Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani.
