MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Putin is scheduled to meet with the Qatari top diplomat, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, in the afternoon local time for talks that will largely focus on international affairs, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"The [Qatari] minister will hand over to Putin a message from the Qatari emir. We know of regular contacts that are being maintained at various levels, including at the highest one, between Russia and Qatar," Peskov told reporters.
Before talks with Putin, the Qatari chief diplomat is due to meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
