The Syrian authorities are concerned about attempts by terrorist organizations and their sponsors to undermine the political resolution of the Syrian crisis by violating the ceasefire in the country, the head of Damascus delegation to the Syrian peace talks in Geneva, Bashar Jaafari, said Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, the Damascus delegation met with UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura to discuss amendments to the proposals on the political settlement.

"We also noted our concern regarding the attempts by terrorism-sponsoring states and the terrorist organizations that work for them, their attempts to undermine the political solution by violating the cessation of hostilities through the commission of terrorist acts," Jaafari said.

The latest round of the Syria peace talks began on April 13 with the focus on Syria's political transition, governance, and the constitution.

Last week, the Syrian opposition's High Negotiations Committee postponed its participation in the talks in protest at the ongoing violence in Syria, for which they blame Damascus.
