MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian President Vladimir Putin held phone talks Tuesday with his Armenian and Azerbaijani counterparts, Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev, discussing the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Kremlin press service said.
"A detailed discussion was held on the recent developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone. Expressing serious concern over the large-scale armed clashes, which have led to numerous casualties, Putin called on both sides to urgently ensure a complete cessation of hostilities and compliance with the ceasefire regime," the press service said in a statement.
Russia will continue to serve as a mediator to help resolve the conflict, according to the Kremlin.
