The first expanded meeting between the Russian and US parliamentarians is due to be held in Berlin in early May, a senior Russian lawmaker said Sunday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – On Saturday, Konstantin Kosachev, the head of the International Committee of the Russian Federation Council, said that representatives from upper and lower houses of the US and Russian parliaments might hold a meeting this summer, either in June or July.

"The first expanded contact between the Russian and US lawmakers is slated for early May in Berlin at the trilateral parliamentary meeting, Germany — Russia – the United States," Alexei Pushkov, the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the lower house of Russia's parliament, wrote on his Twitter account.

Relations between Russia and the United States deteriorated over Crimea's secession from Ukraine and rejoining Russia, as well as Moscow's alleged involvement in the Ukraine conflict, which the Kremlin has repeatedly denied.
