Leaked Memo Reveals Erdogan’s 'Radical Solution' to Mideast Crises

British media obtained a leaked memo from a meeting between Jordanian King Abdullah and US congressional leaders. According to the document, the monarch said that the "fact that terrorists are going to Europe is part of Turkish policy."

Jordan’s King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein told American congressmen about Ankara bidding on radical Islamists to resolve the Middle East’s crises, according to The Guardian.

The newspaper obtained leaked memo note of meetings between the monarch and US congressional leaders, including John McCain, the chairman of the Senate armed services committee. According to the article, the meetings took place in the week of January 11, 2016.

According to King Abdullah, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan believes in a radical solution" to the problems in the Middle East.

"The fact that terrorists are going to Europe is part of Turkish policy, and Turkey keeps getting a slap on the hand, but they get off the hook," the memo read.

The king also stressed that Jordan was going to engage its Special Forces in Libya. A joint operation with British SAS forces is currently being considered. Abdullah II said that Jordanian forces jointly with Britain and Kenya are also ready to deploy to Somalia to defeat the al-Shabaab extremist group.

According to the monarch, Islamists in Somalia are linked to both the Daesh and al-Qaeda militant groups.

"The problem is bigger than ISIL [Daesh], this is a third world war, this is Christians, Jews working with Muslims against outlaws," he said.
