UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura said that he disscussed with High Negotiations Committee (HNC) the transitional political process in Syria.

GENEVA (Sputnik) — Representatives of Riyadh-formed opposition High Negotiations Committee (HNC) have raised the issue of detainees that will be forwarded for study by UN special task groups, UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura said Tuesday.

"We discussed issues that we will be bringing to the attention of the special task forces — this is the issue of detainees," de Mistura told reporters after a meeting with the HNC delegation.

UN Syria Envoy Says Received Gov’t Proposals on Crisis Settlement
The special envoy added that they discussed the transitional political process.

He noted that the video conference held on Monday with the UN Security Council was constructive.

The new round of the intra-Syrian talks aiming at putting an end to the 5-year civil war is underway in Geneva. The negotiations are expected to last until March 24.
