WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US Secretary of State John Kerry relayed Washington’s concerns to Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif about reports that Tehran has been conducting ballistic missile tests, US Department of State spokesperson John Kirby told reporters on Wednesday.

"Secretary [Kerry] did raise his concerns today with Foreign Minister Zarif about these reports," Kirby stated when asked if they were aware of reports on Iran's ballistic missile tests.

On Wednesday, Iran’s semiofficial FARS news agency reported that the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps fired two Qadr H ballistic missiles from an eastern mountain range at a target 1,400 kilometers away.

Iran also tested ballistic missiles the previous day, which US officials characterized as not violating the nuclear agreement reached last July, but potentially violating at least one UN Security Council resolution.

Earlier on Wednesday, President Barack Obama extended the national emergency vis-a-vis Tehran despite the recent lifting of nuclear-related sanctions stipulated in July’s nuclear agreement.
