MOSCOW (Sputnik) — US statements that Syrian conflict settlement is impossible unless incumbent President Bashar Assad resigns contradict existing international agreements, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Friday.
"Yesterday, for example, during President [Barack] Obama's speech, it was said that the international community was impossible to mobilize to effectively fight terrorism as long as President Assad remains in power. This completely contradicts all the decisions the United States backed in the UN Security Council, and which state that terrorism can have no justification," Lavrov told reporters.
