Russia will request a UN Security Council meeting amid possible Turkish plans to send troops to Syria, Russia's Foreign Ministry said Friday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia also plans to introduce a resolution demanding to cease all actions undermining Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

"The situation is becoming more tense due to increased tensions on the Syrian-Turkish border and Turkey's stated plans to send troops to northern Syria… In this regard, Russia intends to convene a UN Security Council meeting today to discuss the matter," the ministry said in a statement.
