PARIS (Sputnik) – Paris is calling on all sides to stop shelling in northern Syria, the French Foreign Ministry said Sunday.
On Saturday, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Turkish forces shelled Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) positions in northern Syria as a retaliatory measure within rules of engagement. The attacks continued Sunday. Syria's Foreign Ministry branded the shelling as direct support of the terrorists.
"France is concerned over the continuing worsening in the Aleppo region and in northern Syria. France is calling for an immediate cease of bombings, both from the regime and its allies on the whole territory and from Turkey in the Kurdish regions," the statement read.
