"I certainly hope that there will be a message of more cooperation, more joint efforts to end wars and conflicts than in the recent past, more determination and joint efforts, less confrontation. I think this year it is already more constructive than last year. There are signs of hope," Wolfgang Ischinger told reporters.
"A compromise is not a one-way street, so everybody, all players need to move, that is what we are hoping to achieve here, an impulse that will be forwarded on," the chairman added.
The MSC is an international, nongovernmental, independent conference for discussing major security issues. Founded in 1962 to facilitate consultations between NATO member countries, it now involves representatives from Central and Eastern Europe, South Asia, and the Middle East, as well as former Soviet states.
