MUNICH (Sputnik) – The foreign ministers of Russia and Saudi Arabia, Sergei Lavrov and Adel Jubeir, discussed relations between the two countries at a bilateral meeting in Munich, including joint economic projects, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said Friday.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference taking place on February 12-14.
"[They] discussed economic relations in general," the official said.
He added that the issue of potential Saudi ground military operation in Syria had not been discussed.
Saudi Arabia’s Defense Ministry announced last week that Riyadh was ready to put boots on the ground in Syria to fight the Daesh militant group, which has been outlawed by many countries, including Russia.
On Thursday, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has called on all sides to the Syrian conflict to avoid a ground military operation in Syria as it could lead to a permanent war.
