MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia is ready to assist on the basis of existing agreements, Sergei Lavrov added.
"No one is 'steering away' from us [Russia], neither when with regard to Syria nor Ukraine. On the contrary, the hopelessness and such rhetoric is accompanied by very pragmatic calls for our help. We are ready [to help], but we will act according to principles and specific agreements on Ukraine and Syrian crises' settlement," Lavrov told Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper.
"We have proposed an absolutely specific scheme during our contacts with Washington, which they [US authorities] have now started considering."
According to the minister, Washington has also started to realize that it is counterproductive to refuse coordinating efforts in the fight against the Daesh terrorist organization.
"They seem to be realizing that refusing to cooperate is counterproductive. But we have yet to achieve actual results," Lavrov said.
