GENEVA (Sputnik) — The Syrian opposition delegation formed following meetings in Moscow and Cairo will take part in intra-Syrian talks in Geneva as an equal member on February 3, Syrian opposition figure Qadri Jamil told Sputnik on Tuesday.
"We just held a meeting with [Russian Deputy Foreign Minister] Gennady Gatilov… We agreed that once our delegation gathers in full, we will participate in the talks as an equal member," Jamil said, adding that the delegation plans to meet UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura on Wednesday.
On Monday, de Mistura met with HNC at the United Nations Office at Geneva, which meant a formal start of the intra-Syrian talks in line with the December UN Security Council's resolution on Syrian settlement, that ruled to bring the entire spectrum of political groups in the crisis-torn country to the negotiating table.
On Tuesday, the UN Special Envoy for Syria holds meeting with the delegation of the Syrian government.
