GENEVA(Sputnik) – Earlier in the day de Mistura and head of the Syrian government delegation Bashar Jaafari met for talks in Geneva. Their meeting lasted 2.5 hours.

"The government delegation raised the issue of list of terrorists, I reminded them that this time the priority is actually talking about what the Security Council resolution instructed me on the 1st of January," de Mistura told reporters.

According to the official, issues of governance, new constitution, new elections, tackling terrorism should be discussed in the environment of the UN Security Council.

In December, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution on settling the Syrian conflict, which reaffirmed the goals of the Vienna agreements to bring the entire spectrum of political groups in the crisis-torn country to the negotiating table and stated that the next round of the talks would take place in January, 2016.
