LATAKIA (Sputnik) – Intra-Syrian reconciliation talks in Geneva between Damascus and opposition forces will not be held before February 1, Syrian Democratic Council Chairman Haytham Manaa said Thursday.
“Talks [in Geneva] won’t begin any earlier than Monday,” Sky News Arabia quoted Manaa as saying.
Earlier it was reported that the talks would begin on January 29.
In December, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution on settling the Syrian conflict, which reaffirmed the goals of the Vienna agreements to bring the entire spectrum of political groups in the crisis-torn country to the negotiating table and stated that the next round of the talks would take place in January, 2016.
The date of the Geneva talks has been postponed several times, rising concern among the participants of the Vienna process.
