MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia condemns Moldova's actions limiting the freedom of the media, as well as Chisinau's sanctions against journalists, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Friday.
"We strongly condemn the policy of the Moldovan authorities to restrict the activities of the media and the introduction of sanctions against journalists," the ministry said in a statement.
On Thursday, crews from three Russian TV channels, namely the All-Russian Television and Radio Network (VGTRK), Life News and REN TV, who were set to cover the ongoing protests in Chisinau, were denied entry to Moldova.
On Friday, the Moldovan authorities denied entry to the country to RIA Novosti journalist Timur Khursandov and a Czech radio employee.
Protests erupted in the Moldovan capital of Chisinau earlier in the week, with the opposition demanding the parliament's dissolution and snap elections amid the appointment of Pavel Filip from the Democratic Party as the new prime minister.
