The Palestinian authorities are set to meet in the coming days to discuss the state of its relations with Tel Aviv amid the recent escalation of the long-standing conflict, Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) chief Saeb Erekat said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The PLO chief ruled out the possibility of cutting all ties with Tel Aviv.

"There will be decisive and important decisions regarding all forms of ties with the occupation, including security and political relations," Erekat said on Sunday, as quoted by The Jerusalem Post newspaper.

The meeting of the Palestinian leadership is expected to take place before the end of 2015, Erekat added.

In the long-standing conflict between Israel and Palestine, Palestinians seek recognition of their independent state, proclaimed in 1988, on the territories of West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.

Most of the areas claimed by the State of Palestine were seized by Israel in 1967 during the Six-Day War. The Israeli government refuses to recognize Palestine as an independent political and diplomatic entity. Israel has continued to build settlements in the occupied territories, prompting condemnation from the United Nations.
