NEW YORK (Sputnik) – Moscow expects Argentina's new government to continue strengthening its cooperation with Russia, the Russian deputy foreign minister said Wednesday.
"We are interested for the new government of the Argentine Republic to show continuity on the course of deepening and diversifying Russian-Argentine ties," Sergei Ryabkov told reporters.
According to Ryabkov, Moscow and Buenos Aires have been closely cooperating politically in recent years. The diplomat also noted that a number of economically useful projects for both countries had been outlined.
On November 22, Buenos Aires mayor and prominent opposition member Mauricio Macri won a run-off presidential election in Argentina, receiving 51.5 percent with almost all votes counted. He will replace Christina Kirchner who has ruled the country since 2007.
