China Fully Supports Russia's Anti-Terrorism Efforts

Beijing fully supports Russia’s anti-terrorist efforts and actions in protecting its national security and is ready to fight together against the threat of terrorism, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said Wednesday.

BEIJING (Sputnik) – China is ready to work with Russia and the entire international community to jointly fight against the terror threat, Hong said.

“Being an all-around strategic partner of Russia, China fully supports the anti-terrorist efforts of Russia in protecting its national security and stability, and [China supports] its counterterrorist measures.”

“China is prepared to work with Russia and the entire international community to strengthen cooperation in the area of security and jointly fight against the threat of terrorism,” the spokesman added.

Since September 30, Moscow has been conducting airstrikes on ISIL terrorist positions at request of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

On Tuesday, Russia’s Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Russian Aerospace Forces doubled the number of sorties against terrorist targets in Syria during the first day of a newly-planned air campaign, which now involves strategic bombers.

Russian Federal Security Service head Alexander Bortnikov said earlier that the A321 passenger jet crash over Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula on October 31 was a terrorist act.
