MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia is trying to urge its partners at the UN Security Council to take collective efforts to fight against terrorism, the Russian deputy foreign minister said Monday.
"We are trying to mobilize our partners for collective actions in every possible way," Gennady Gatilov said at a meeting of Russia's Council of the Federation Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Countering terrorism has been high on the agenda of the G20 Summit which took place in Antalya, Turkey on November 15-16. The world leaders stated the necessity of multilateral cooperation was the only option to fight against terrorism successfully.
According to the statistics portal Statista, the international terrorism had caused around 130,000 deaths worldwide between 2006 and 2013. Over 32,000 people were killed by terrorists in 2014.
