"I think that our total hostility to cooperation with Russia has worked against us…and worked against the peace of the region," Rohrabacher said of the US-Russian dynamic in the Middle East.
Since Russia started its military campaign in Syria, it has proposed numerous channels of cooperation with the United States and the US-led coalition to counter the ISIL. Washington has so far limited its anti-ISIL cooperation with Moscow to the tactical level.
"I think we can accomplish a lot by cooperating with Russia," Rohrabacher commented.
The animosity toward Moscow among US leaders "is working against peace in the Middle East, but also throughout the world," the congressman added.
Rohrabacher currently heads the newly reconfigured US-Russia Caucus in the House of Representatives.
