US Anticipates Follow-Up Meetings on Syria Political Transition

Additional multilateral meetings on a political transition in Syria should be expected after the Friday meeting in Vienna, US State Department spokesman John Kirby said in a press conference on Thursday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — On Friday, officials from nine nations, including the United States, Russia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, Lebanon and France will participate in talks aimed at reaching a political resolution to the Syrian crisis.

“You can expect there [are] going to be more meetings on the back-end of this one [in Vienna]… I can assure you, there will be more,” Kirby stated.
