MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia is convinced that creating a circle of support in settling the Syrian crisis without Iran’s participation would be worthless, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Thursday.
“In regard to this format, we have said several times that we are convinced in the worthlessness of attempts to create this type of foreign circle of support for settling the Syrian crisis without Iran, and we are of course sure that in the current circumstances it is important to include Egypt, Qatar, the [United Arab] Emirates, and Jordan in the group as well,” Lavrov said during an interview on Russia’s Rossiya-1 television channel.
