Liberal Party Takes Early Lead in Canada General Elections

According to first preliminary election results Canada’s opposition Liberal party, led by Justin Trudeau, took the early lead.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Canada’s opposition Liberal party, led by Justin Trudeau, took the early lead with some 67 percent in 13 out of 15 constituencies counted, according to first preliminary election results.

The Conservative Party, led by Prime Minister Stephen Harper, has so far secured some 16 percent of votes.

The report came 50 minutes after polls closed in Canada's eastern-most provinces.
