The Chairman of the Kyrgyz Central Election Commission, Tuigunaaly Abdraimov, confirmed Sunday that six parties will be present in the composition of the new parliament following the general elections in the country.

BISHKEK (Sputnik) — According to the local legislation, the parties need to pass a 7-percent threshold of votes nation-wide and receive the support of over 0.7 percent of the electorate in each of the regions of the country.

"The parties that gained over 7 percent of support managed to pass the regional barrier as well. According to the preliminary results, the distribution of mandates will involve six parties," he said.

According to Abdraimov, the Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan, the Ata Zhurt center-right political party, Kyrgyzstan party, Onuguu-Progress, popular in the country's rural regions, Bir Bol and socialist Ata-Meken political parties will take part in the parliament’s new composition.

He added that the election's turnout amounted to some 60 percent.
