As soon as the first Russian bombs started falling on ISIL positions in Syria Western media filled with reports about innocent civilians allegedly killed by these bombs, and the Pentagon said that ISIL terrorists were not the prime target of the Russian airstrikes, a US-based website reported on Friday.

Meanwhile, Syria’s UN ambassador said that Russia had every right to go after terrorists in Syria and Moscow slammed the West’s attempts to unleash an information war against it.

Avigdor Eskin, a geopolitical analyst and publicist, spoke to Sputnik in an exclusive interview about why Western media tries to distort Russia’s actions in Syria and how the Israeli media reports the aerial campaign differently from the West.

“Unlike the Western media, the Israeli newspapers and television are much more objective and impartial when they try to describe what is really happening in Syria. The task was pretty simple to just show the map and demonstrate which areas were chosen by the Russian Forces as target zones. It is very clear that the targets of the Russian Air Force were those terrorist bases that are close to the rest of the territory that is controlled by the Syrian government,” Eskin told Sputnik.

“It is natural that Russia targeted the areas which have strategic importance and it is clear to anyone who is impartial what the task there is.”

The analyst also said that Israeli newspapers emphasized that the Russian military chief will meet with the Israeli military chief next week in Jerusalem. “They will meet to discuss their cooperation as Israel helps to fight ISIL. There are no signs of Iranian aggression towards Israel and hence it is natural to cooperate.”

As Russia Pounds Terrorists in Syria, Western Media Pours Lies on Moscow
“Russia’s steps are very well thought out and they are thoroughly weighted. We just hope it will be short, clean and without any pain for the Russian Air Forces,” Eskin added.

Regarding why the West portrays Russia’s actions in Syria differently than the Israeli media portrays it, Eskin said, “Israel is right here. It understands the situation better and knows what is at stake here. So our military and experts who have an intelligence background know what they are talking about. In the West they cannot stop what they have started. They have certain lines and they are indoctrinated in a certain way so they cannot be impartial to the situation.”

“We don’t see any free thought in the West. They just write the same thing, saying that everything that Russia does is wrong even if Russia is doing something right it must be wrong.”

The analyst also mentioned that he saw Reuters report earlier that Kurdish fighters are most prepared in their fight against ISIL, and according to him, the Kurds themselves have said that they have been assisted by Israel.

“ISIL is just another terrorist organization that came from the Muslim Brotherhood. It is exactly the same ideology as al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups. Unfortunately the West is responsible for stirring them up, feeding them and pushing one military group against another making them more fanatical and radical,” Eskin said.
