"As a permanent member of the UN Security Council, we will continue to support efforts to develop a solution by the Cyprian communities that will suit all Cypriots – the Greeks and the Turks," Zakharova was quoted by the Cyprian Politi newspaper.

According to the spokeswoman, Moscow considers any external pressure on Cyprus inadmissible, the media reported.

Cyprus has been divided into Turkish and Greek domains since a 1974 Turkish invasion in response to a Greek coup. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus unilaterally proclaimed its independence in the 1980s, and is currently only recognized by Turkey.
