The US policy in Syria cannot resolve the ongoing crisis in the country. A new coalition together with Russia and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad should be created to fight ISIL militants, a Polish journalist wrote.

Syria Becoming a 'Geopolitical Chernobyl of Chaos' for US – Petraeus
From a military perspective, Russia is right when it insists that only the Syrian army, with support from its allies, can defeat the Islamic State (ISIL) terrorist group, Polish journalist Dawid Warszawski wrote in his article for Gazeta Wyborcza.

The US now is in trap in Syria and will have to start negotiations with Russia, the journalist added.

Previously, Moscow was disparagingly invited to join a 60-nation coalition led by the US to topple Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad. It has been a year since the coalition launched airstrikes in the country, however there is still no result, the article read.

According to the journalist, Washington lacks allies that would be able to take control of the ISIL-seized areas. The Free Syrian Army and affiliated groups are weak, and the US training program for Syrian opposition fighters has failed.

Kremlin: Impossible to Exclude Assad From Syrian Crisis Settlement
The local al-Qaeda branch is definitely not an ally of the US, he pointed out.

The author is convinced that Russia will continue to support Assad.

If Moscow fails to agree with Washington, it would "defend the Western part of the country, and the rest would be controlled by ISIL," the article read.

A global reset over Syria would involve the creation of an international coalition to support Assad in defeating ISIL, the author wrote. After Syria is liberated Assad would help Europe deal with the migrant influx. After a transition period, the president would leave office and save the reputation both of his country and the West.
