BERLIN (Sputnik) — The chancellor mentioned the July landmark nuclear deal reached between Iran and the six international negotiators, including Germany and Russia, as well as an August agreement between the United Nations member states.
"We hold a positive view of the fact that the United Nations member states agreed on '2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.' For the first time we demonstrated a common plan of action comprising 17 points to tackle poverty," Merkel said.
Merkel said that despite tensions over the crisis in Ukraine, she sees many astonishing moments in cooperation with Russia on the international level.
"Despite this deep conflict with Russia, there are a lot of astonishing and encouraging moments on the international level," Merkel said during a speech in the German parliament.
